Blue Ridge Mountain Cloggers
CAROLINA HOEDOWN CHAMPIONSHIPS
SENECA, SC -- July 18, 2009

Novice Traditional Solo Champions - Male Champion Darby Moore and Female Champion Christy Babb. Just some of the many awards won by the dancers of Blue Ridge Mountain Cloggers.
After an absence of a couple of years, a major ACHF clogging competition returned to Seneca. It was nice to have a competition hosted in our Oconee County. It certainly made travel much easier and it was nice to be able to invite neighbors, family and friends to be come to be with us and see our dancers perform in this highly competitive environment. BRMC wishes to thank Lib Mills and the other hosts of the Carolina Hoedown Championships. We certainly enjoyed your hospitality and the quality event that you provided for our dancers.
While the day proved to be very long, our dancers were rewarded with many team and individual accomplishments. Once again the dancers of BRMC excelled in many of the traditional fields, but there were also many successes in contemporary categories. The morning began with the Novice competition where Little Mountain Sweethearts and Mountain Laurel both earned first place awards. Mountain Laurel would go on to be named Grand Champion Novice Team. The solo competitions brought on many more BRMC Awards. It seemed every time they were announcint the Novice Traditional Awards there was a BRMC dancer stepping up to the microphone to introduce themselves. This was capped off with Darby and Christy being named Champion Novice Traditional Soloists. A summary of all of the Solo Results both Novice and Challenge is below.

The team competitions were equally as impressive for BRMC teams as all 12 teams placed in the top 3 of their divisions. Little Mountain Wildfire continued it's winning ways in the 4 or more couple hoedown category by placing 1st in the Pee-Wee age division. In traditional line, Jocassee Storm and Mountain Rhythm each earned first place honors. The Beverly Hillbillies show continues to put smiles on everyone's face and earn high marks from the judges as it once again placed first. A summary of all team awards is listed below.

After a very long day the last group to compete was our duos and duets. They all did a remarkable job. We are truly proud of them for their perseverance and the skill and energy that they showed after several other dances. Kaitlin and Haleigh were in their first duo competition and did very well.

| The perfect ending on a great dup performance. A lot of neat stuff in this revised routine. Keep it up. | Yes!! They really did that good. Allison and Joey absolutely nailed their Buck & Wing duet. Great Job! |
What happens to the director after a very long day of keeping about 70 dancers and who knows how many parents in line. Well sometimes you just have to take a little nap wherever you can grab it. Thank you Loretta for all that you do.
